INDIANAPOLIS- The #12 Greyhound men's tennis team kicked off its 2020 spring slate with a 7-0 home win over DePauw Friday night.
"It was a good start for all of us, especially the freshmen. We were kind of nervous in the beginging, but we fared very well," freshman
Tom Zeuch said. "I am excited for what is to come this season, we have more to come."
UIndy (1-0) swept the doubles competition to open the match, with
Dario Huber and
Renato Lima picking up where they left off at the ITA Super Bowl, taking a 6-1 win at one doubles. Three doubles was next off the court, with
Cristian Morales and
Jason Gerweck taking a 6-2 win. The German newcomer duo of Zeuch and
Dominik Koenig completed the doubles sweep with a 6-3 win in the two position.
Koenig took the first singles point for the Hounds with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 5. Gerweck was next to take his singles match, with a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 6. Lima notched the next point with a 6-3, 6-1 win at two singles.
Zeuch took a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 3, while Huber closed out a 7-5, 6-1 win in the No. 1 singles match. Morales was the final match off of the court, closing out the 7-0 sweep with a 6-1, 6-4 win at four singles.
UIndy is next in action Sunday, on the road versus Tusculum. First serve is slated for 2 p.m.Â
