OWENSBORO, Ky. – The No. 12 Undy softball team completed a clean sweep of the weekend, downing both Tiffin and Kentucky Wesleyan for the second time in as many days. The Greyhounds (6-1) cruised to an 11-5 win versus Tiffin Sunday before taking down host KWC, 6-2, in the night cap.
 
GAME 1 | UIndy 11, Tiffin 5
The Hounds jumped out to a 4-0 lead by the top of the third, capped by a two-run single by Taylor Danielson. The Dragons got two back in the fourth before UIndy pulled away with a seven unanswered tallies. Emily O'Connor's second double of the game and a Hanna Burris triple highlighted the salvo.
 
Starting pitcher Lauren Honkomp (2-0) gave up all five runs but earned the complete-game win, walking four and striking out six. Burris led the Hounds with three hits, while O'Connor and Danielson both garnered three RBIs. Each of the first five UIndy batters scored at least once.
 
GAME 2 | UIndy 6, KWC 2
Junior Gianni Iannantone set the tone with her second home run of the weekend – a two-run blast in the bottom of the first. Four more UIndy runs crossed before the Panthers could answer, including back-to-back RBI triples from Sydnie Foster and Brooke Montgomery in the fourth.
 
Hallie Waters moved to 4-0 in the circle after surrendering just one earned run and fanning eight in her complete-game effort.
 
S. Foster notched two ribbies and two runs in the capper, while Maddy Stout notched her second two-hit game of the weekend.
 
UP NEXT
UIndy continues to battle in-region foes in the upcoming Midwest Region Crossover. The 12-team invitational is scheduled for Feb. 21-23 in Evansville, Ind. The Hounds are set to play four games, starting with a meeting versus Northwood on the 22nd.
