INDIANAPOLIS- In a crosstown battle, the #12 Greyhound men's tennis came out on top of IUPUI, 5-2, Tuesday afternoon at the Westside Racquet Club.
Dario Huber and
Renato Lima took the first doubles match, 6-2, but the Hounds (3-0) lost 6-4 at two doubles and 6-3 in the three spot to concede the doubles point to the host Jaguars.
Nikolaj Talimaa notched the first UIndy point with a 6-0, 6-1 win at four singles, with
Dominik Koenig following with a 6-2, 6-4 win in the No. 5 singles spot to put the Hounds ahead 2-1.
Lima earned a 7-5, 6-3 win in the two singles position. IUPUI took its second point with a win at three singles, but Huber and
Jason Gerweck closed out the 5-2 win in taking their singles matches.
Huber posted a three-set win at one singles, 6-3, 5-7, 6-2, with Gerweck wrapping up the win with a 6-4, 6-1 victory at six singles.
The Greyhounds jump back into Division II play Saturday, hosting Grand Valley State in a regional matchup. First serve from the UIndy Tennis Center is slated for 4 p.m.
