Hounds Split with Purdue Northwest

HAMMOND, Ind. – The UIndy baseball team was back on the road Wednesday for a midweek double header against Purdue Northwest. The Greyhounds dropped game one against the Pride but were able to take one game against the hosts as their record now stands at 12-3 on the year.

GAME ONE- PURDUE NORTHWEST 7, INDIANAPOLIS 3
After falling behind on a pair of Purdue Northwest runs in the bottom of the second, the Greyhounds came right back in the third to put three runs on the board courtesy of a John Carpinelli sacrifice fly, a Hunter Waning single who also came back to score later on a Pride error. The three runs was not enough as the home team hung up five runs in the Greyhounds in the bottom half of the fourth inning, capped off by a homer as they took game one.

GAME TWO- INDIANAPOLIS 9, PURDUE NORTHWEST 5
It was the Greyhounds who had a big inning in the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader. UIndy put up five runs in the third inning to put the Hounds ahead on the scoreboard. Coby Taylor started off the inning for UIndy with a two-run shot and ended with an Alex Vela bases clearing double to bring in two more runs to give the Hounds the 7-2 lead. Purdue Northwest would try and muster a comeback in the game's final inning, scoring three runs in the ninth but fell short as the Hounds would take game two in Hammond.
