COVID-19 Update Regarding DII Men's Basketball Midwest Regional

On behalf of Scott Young, Senior Associate Athletic Director for Compliance at the University of Indianapolis

The NCAA announced on Wednesday updated protocols for its upcoming championship events due to the spread of COVID-19, which includes the DII Men's Basketball Midwest Regional to be held at Nicoson Hall at the University of Indianapolis on March 14-15 and 17.

"Earlier today, the NCAA Board of Governors made a decision to limit the number of attendees at NCAA championships for the winter season," the NCAA released in a statement. "This decision is in the best interest of public health, including that of coaches, administrators, fans and our student-athletes."

As a result, the general public will not be allowed to attend the upcoming regional at UIndy. However, each team's travel party will have access to a limited number of tickets, while previously purchased online tickets will be automatically refunded by the end of the day Thursday.

Although this is an NCAA decision, it aligns with the University's stance on practicing social distancing in order to prevent community spread of the virus. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation during these uncertain times and realize these measures may pose a necessary inconvenience to many of you. If you have questions about the NCAA protocols and how this may affect your plans, please see the full statement from NCAA President Mark Emmert.
