Gunneson Scores Four Against Top-Ranked Le Moyne

BALTIMORE, Md. – A slow start doomed the No. 6 UIndy women's lacrosse team (7-1) on Thursday afternoon, as a second-half surge was too late in its non-conference contest against No. 1 Le Moyne (4-0) at the U.S. Lacrosse Facility.

The Greyhounds scored nine goals in the final 30 minutes, but fell to the top-ranked Dolphins, 16-12.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Dolphins built an 8-0 lead before Grace Gunneson out the Hounds on the board with her first of four goals on the afternoon. Le Moyne led at halftime, 12-3, which would prove to be enough to fend off the late Hounds' run.

Gunneson led a UIndy attack that scored five straight goals midway through the second half to cut the deficit to 13-9, but the Dolphins responded with a pair of scores to put the game out of reach. Lauryn Hardoy and Peyton Romig each added goals at the end of the game to make it 16-12 before the final horn.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
-Romig secured 14 draw controls on Thursday, adding to her two points on the offensive end.
- Gunneson's four goals matches her season-high, first coming at Findlay on Mar. 1.
- Kara Antonucci was prominent on the defensive end, recording five ground balls and five draw controls.
- Destinie Katz finished with four points on three assists and one goal, joining Gunneson and Hardoy among the team leaders in tallies.

MORE NOTES
UIndy moves to 0-2 all-time against Le Moyne … Dolphins' netminder Hannah George made 14 saves.
