Bulldogs Bounce Hounds From GLVC Tourney

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – It clawed back within one in the second half, but ultimately the No. 13 UIndy men's basketball team (24-6) fell short in the GLVC semifinal on Saturday evening to third-seeded Truman, 88-77.

The key was 3-point shooting, as the Bulldogs were 10 of 20 from beyond the arc, while the Hounds mustered just seven triples on 27 attempts.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Cory Miller Jr. looked to turn the favor on UIndy's side with 10 seconds left in the first half, driving to the rim to put the Hounds within a pair. However, Truman's Cade McKnight drilled a contested 3-pointer as time expired to give the Bulldogs a five-point advantage at the break.

It was the junior transfer who got the Greyhounds within one at the 16:09 mark, but Truman continued to answer and quickly grew its lead to nine.

UIndy had one of its final chances to retake the lead, as Jimmy King kissed one off the glass to get within a pair. After a Trevor Lakes block on the defensive end, the junior looked to give the Hounds their first lead since late in the first half with a 3-pointer, but the rim was not kind to the deep threat.

The Bulldogs led by double figures most of the final 10 minutes before holding on for the 88-77 win to move onto play Missouri-St. Louis in the GLVC title game.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- King led the Hounds with 17 points, while handing out six assists and grabbing as many boards. The senior is now just five helpers from tying Ron Rutland for the program record of 547.
- Lakes nearly matched his stat line from Thursday's quarterfinal, finishing with 12 points and seven rebounds. The Lebanon, Ind., product also blocked four Truman shots.
- Five Greyhounds recorded double figures in the scoring column, as Jacob Polakovich added 10 boards to his 10 points.
- Marcus Latham joined Miller Jr. with 13 points for the Hounds.
