SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – The UIndy men's basketball team (2-8, 2-8 GLVC) earned its first win away from home Tuesday night, pulling off a 75-74 victory at Illinois Springfield (5-5, 5-5). A season-high five Greyhounds finished in double figures, led by senior
Dee Montgomery with 15 points.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Hounds got contributions across the board Tuesday, with
Cory Miller Jr. (14 pts),
Jesse Bingham (14),
Kendrick Tchoua (11) and
Mikail Simmons (10) joining Montgomery in double figures. Collectively, the Hounds shot 50 percent from the field for the first time this season, knocking down nine 3-pointers and turning the ball over just six times.
Â
The Greyhounds led, 39-30, at the break and managed to maintain the lead throughout the second half despite multiple runs by the host Prairie Stars.
Â
A late triple from Miller Jr. looked to be the dagger, putting the Hounds up, 69-62, with just three minutes to go, but UIS clawed back to make it a one-point game in the final minute. Bingham, however, continuing a trend for the young wing player, hit a pair of clutch free throws with just 25 seconds to all but seal the win.

HOUND BYTES
Head Coach Paul Corsaro on the five starters reaching double figures...
"I thought guys really stepped up and did a nice job, but we still need to improve on securing defensive rebounds down the stretch and knocking in pressure free throws. But I'm really happy with our guys. This was not only our second win but it was our first road win. The GLVC is a tough league; there's no easy nights and it's hard to win on the road, but it's going to be a fun trip home."
