PAINSVILLE, Ohio- The #T7 Greyhound wrestling team swept the day at the Storm Duals Saturday, taking wins over #9 Ashland, host Lake Erie and GLVC-foe Davenport.
With the trio of wins, the Greyhounds improve to 7-1 on the season, marking the best start by a UIndy Wrestling team since the 1980-81 season.

After Ashland took a win at 125,
Chase Wilkerson accepted a forfeit at 133 to push the score to 6-3 Hounds. The Eagles evened the score at 6-6 with a decision at 141.
With the score knotted, freshman
Logan Bailey took to the mat against #3 Carson Speelman and came away with a 4-2 win that put UIndy ahead for good. Redshirt sophomore #4
Dawson Combest followed with six more team points with a pin of Nick Carbone in 2:19 to put the team score at 15-6 UIndy.
After Ashland put up three more points at 165, #7
Andrew Sams won 4-2 over Daniel Beemer at 174. The Eagles pinned at 184, but
Derek Blubaugh iced the Greyhound win with a 17-2 tech fall in 5:00 over Nathan Williams at 197.
#T7 UINDY 26 - LAKE ERIE 19
The host Storm put up seven points to start the dual, but #6
Breyden Bailey pinned Brady O'Conner in 4:18 to cut the LEC lead to one.
The teams traded matches for the next five bouts, with LEC winning at 149, but Combest won by tech fall 19-3 in 4:47 over Nick Burgard at 157. The Storm came away with a close decision at 165, but Sams pinned John Penfold in 4:54 at 174 to put up six more for the Hounds.
After a Storm pin at 184, another Greyhound took down a ranked opponent with Blubaugh defeating #10 Chris Droege 7-2 for his second win of the day.
Jay Thompson accepted a forfeit at 285 to close out the dual.
#T7 UINDY 44 - DAVENPORT 3
In a Great Lakes Valley Conference clash, the Greyhounds took wins in nine of the 10 bouts to defeat the Panthers.
Nick Brady opened the dual with an 8-6 win over Manuel Leija, with
Chase Wilkerson following with a pin at 133 in 1:25 to kick off six straight bonus point wins by the Hounds.
Breyden Bailey put up a major decision, 12-4 over Tyson Emmons at 141, with his younger brother Logan following with a pin in 57 seconds over Asher Meekhof at 149 to run the score to 19-0 Greyhounds.
Combest notched his second tech fall of the day at 157, besting Quintin Lopez 19-2 in 6:27.
Owen Butler followed with a pin in 59 seconds at 165. Sams also pinned, in 5:40 at 174, while
Gleason Mappes followed with a 6-2 decsion over Jackson Nevadomski at 174. Blubaugh tacked on the final five UIndy points with a 17-0 tech fall in 3:56 over Crue Cooper at 197.
The Greyhounds close out the regular season next weekend, battling #4 Lindenwood and #24 Maryville in GLVC action at Maryville Saturday.
