MANHEIM Pa. –
GLVC Freshman of the Year Ethan Farnell, has earned his second major award in his first season dawning the Crimson and Grey, the NWCA Super Region IV Rookie of the Year, it was announced by the NWCA on Wednesday.Â
The Rookie of the Year is awarded to the top freshman from the six Super Regions for the 2025-26 season.Â
In his first season as a Greyhound, Farnell became the third UIndy Freshman of the Year in program history, joining
Dawson Combest andÂ
Logan Bailey who won the award back-to-back in 2020 and 2021. Farnell also went 30-12 overall and 3-3 against GLVC opponents with the only losses coming to All-GLVC First Team honoree Logan Kvien, including a close 5-1 decision in the
NCAA Super Regional. Farnell finished third at the Super Regional this year, making it the fifth consecutive year the Greyhounds have had representation at the
NCAA DII National Championships. Â
He began his season with a win at the
Bob Del Rosa Open, and placed top three twice as well, while also capturing All-GLVC Second Team recognition. He concluded his season with his first appearance at the NCAA DII Championships, going 1-2 with a win against Belmont Abbey's Caleb Moore.
The NWCA will announce the NCAA Division II Men's National Wrestler of the Year and National Rookie of the Year next week.
