Hot Shooting Hounds Edge Northwood

INDIANAPOLIS – The University of Indianapolis men's basketball posted a hard fought 91-85 win over Midwest region foe Northwood University on Wednesday afternoon.  For the first time this season, five players recorded double figures in scoring.  The last time that happened was last year's regular season finale, a 77-74 victory at home against Lindenwood.

With the 2-0 week, the Hounds improve to 3-2 on the year and are taking a two-game win streak into conference play next week.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Timberwolves led by as much as eight in the first half but hot shooting from both teams kept it a one-point game at the break.  With five minutes left in the first, the Hounds utilized a 10-0 run over 1:42 of play to take their first lead of the game.  Dee Montgomery converted on a three-point play while Jakobie Robinson capped off the run with a corner-three.

UIndy closed the first frame shooting 7 of 8 from the floor including 3-for-4 from three-point range.  Northwood shot 55.6% in the first half to UIndy's 56.7%.

The Hounds offense kept rolling in the second half, outscoring the Timberwolves 45 to 38.  The two teams traded the lead nine times in the final frame.  Josiah Tynes knocked back a three at the 4:41 mark to give the Hounds the lead for good.

Jesse Bingham paced the Hounds with 19 points followed by Jakobie Robinson (18), Cory Miller Jr. (16) Kendrick Tchoua (13) and Dee Montgomery (11).  Tchoua posted his first double-double of the season with 13 points and 12 rebounds.  Montgomery flirted with a double-double of his own, tallying 11 points and dishing out nine assists

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- The Hounds posted a season-best 55.0% shooting.  UIndy is 2-0 this year when shooting above 50%.
- UIndy was strong on defense in the second half, forcing Northwood into seven turnovers while committing just two themselves.
- The hounds committed a season-low of 11 fouls while tying their season-low of 11 turnovers.
