WESTFIELD, Ind. – The UIndy baseball team (4-7) opened its four-game series versus Truman State University with a 7-1 win on the turf fields of Grand Park in Westfield, Ind. Senior starter
Reid Werner's complete-game performance helped up the Greyhounds' win streak to three, with each game featuring seven runs scored by the Crimson & Grey.
Â
HOW THE HAPPENED
Werner was straight dealing Friday night. The Greenwood, Ind., product struck out an impressive 15 batters, scattering seven hits and walking zero to move to 2-1 on the year. He surrendered a solo homer in the fourth but only one other Bulldog batter advanced as far as second base.
Â
Offensively, the Hounds pushed across at least one run in five innings, including a three-spot in the seventh. UIndy strung together three hits and a successful squeeze bunt in the frame to help put the 'Dogs away.
Â
Ty Williams,
John Carpinelli and
Reid Rector had two hits apiece. Williams managed a double and a run scored, while Carpinelli notched a triple and a pair of RBIs.
