INDIANAPOLIS – The No. 4-ranked University of Indianapolis women's golf team begins postseason play this weekend, traveling to nearby Fishers, Ind., for the 2021 GLVC Championships. The three-day, 15-team tournament will be held at Hawthorns Golf and Country Club Friday through Sunday. Admission to the event is free.

The 22nd-annual event will feature a 54-hole format, with each day of competition consisting of 18 holes. The top five finishers at the event will be named All-GLVC, with the top finishing individual earning medalist honors. The remaining golf awards are determined by season results and a coaches vote.

The Hounds are on a remarkable run of winning eight straight GLVC title, with the COVID-19 pandemic the only thing breaking up their championship streak since 2012. UIndy paces the conference with 13 championships overall. Their 2019 title was one for the record books, posting a 53-stroke victory over Missouri-St. Louis for the largest margin of victory in conference history.

UIndy's 2020-21 campaign has seen six tournament victories thus far.  The only tournament that they didn't place first was the Emerald Coast Classic (March 14-15), where the Hounds saw their decade-long GLVC unbeaten streak come to end at the hands of Missouri-St. Louis.

Senior Pilar Echeverria looks to defend her individual title after capturing her first GLVC medal in 2019 with a score of 223 (76-74-73). She was the fourth-straight Hounds to take home the individual title and the eighth overall. Echeverria is a four-time First Team All-American and the two-time reigning DII Player of the Year while also being the first ever four-time GLVC Player of the Year (2017-20).
