Hounds Advance to Conference Final With 4-0 Sweep

ROMEOVILLE Ill. - It was sweeps-ville for the No. 1 UIndy women's tennis team as they faced off with the West Division's 3-seed, Missouri-St. Louis in the semifinal of the GLVC Championship Tournament, held on the campus of Lewis University. The Greyhounds continued to show why they're not only the No. 1 seed in the tournament but the best team in the nation by adding yet another 4-0 sweep to their tournament record this season. The Hounds advance to Sunday's GLVC Championship match, where the team hopes to claim its 12th conference crown.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The No. 1 doubles pair in the country  – the ever-dominant Nikol Alekseeva and Anna Novikova – came in with fire, playing only six games to score the first point for the Hounds. And to seal the deal for doubles, Alina Kislitskaya and Kristina Lagoda had a close encounter with their Miners rivals, but the No. 3 team in the country would not be shaken, winning 6-4. Sofia Sharonova and Maria Solnyshkina did not finish their match.

Keeping the mojo going was the No. 18 singles player in the country, Kislitskaya, who won in straight 6-1 sets. The talent of the Hounds continued shinning through in sunny Romeville, Ill., as Novikova won her match 6-0, 6-3. Another "ova", GLVC Freshman of the Year Sharonova, would finish off the Tritonswith another straight-set victory for her resume, this time 6-2, 6-4. Alekseeva, Lagoda, and Solnyshkina did not finish their matches.

UP NEXT
