Greyhounds Take Two from Lions on Senior Day

INDIANAPOLIS – The fifth-ranked UIndy softball team wrapped up the regular season with a doubleheader sweep of visiting Lindenwood (23-13-1, 16-12). The wins came after the team honored seven seniors for their dedication to the program: Hanna Burris, Taylor Danielson, Haylie Foster, Kamrie Foster, Gianni Iannantone, Brooke Montgomery and Hallie Waters.

The Greyhounds finished the regular season with a stellar 37-5 (.881) record, with their conference mark of 26-2 GLVC good for their second consecutive GLVC regular season championship.

GAME 1 | UIndy 6, LWU 2
Waters (18-3) got back in the win column with a six-K, zero-walk complete game. She retired the first nine batters she faced, with a two-run single in the sixth inning providing her only blemish.

Offensively, UIndy's second inning output alone generating enough runs for the win. The Hounds did all their damage with two outs, as singles from Sydnie Foster and Iannantone mingled with a Sydnee Perry walk and two HBPs to fuel the rally.

Elsewhere, Emily O'Connor delivered a pair of RBI singles while Lucy Garrett coaxed a bases-loaded walk.

GAME 2 | UIndy  7, LWU 3
With the score knotted at 3-3 in the bottom of the sixth, O'Connor led off the frame with a double, followed immediately by a go-ahead homer from sophomore catcher Lexy Rees. The Hounds tacked on two more insurance runs on RBI singles from Montgomery and H. Foster.

Perry and S. Foster had a double apiece in the fourth inning, with the latter plating two runs.

Freshman Kenzee Smith garnered the pitching win, moving to 18-1 on the season. She struck out six and walked none in the complete-game effort.

UP NEXT
