EAST PEORIA, Ill. – Facing its first elimination game of the week, the seventh-ranked UIndy softball team (39-6) racked up a dozen runs Friday evening, leaving no doubt it would be moving on at the GLVC Championship Tournament. The Greyhounds sent the seventh-seeded Lewis Flyers home with a 12-2 victory, as Gianni Iannantone and Lexy Rees combined for seven runs batted in on the night.
 
Tomorrow's schedule has been preemptively moved up an hour due to forecasted rain. The Greyhounds will now face fourth-seeded Maryville tomorrow at 1 p.m. ET. Stay tuned to @UIndyAthletics and @GLVCsports for further schedule updates.
 
The four-day, double-elimination bracket is being played out at the Eastside Centre in East Peoria, Ill., Thursday through Sunday.
 
INS & OUTS
The UIndy bats struck early and often, sending the Flyers reeling with three runs in the first inning, three in the second and a crushing five-spot in the third.
 
Brooke Montgomery set the tone, driving the first pitch of the game to deep center for a leadoff homer. More Hounds followed suit, as Rees delivered a three-run opposite-field shot in the second, while Iannantone capped the fruitful third frame with a three-run bomb of her own.
 
In the circle, senior Hallie Waters notched her 19th win of year, allowing just two hits and one earned run in four-plus innings.
 
Senior Kamrie Foster went 3-for-3 with three runs scored, and Taylor Danielson had a single and two walks. Montgomery added two hits versus the Flyers to finish Friday's two games (and her birthday) 4-for-7 at the plate with two doubles, a homer, three runs and three ribbies.
