#1 Hounds beat Hillsdale in NCAA Regional First Round

MIDLAND, Mich. - Now with a perfect 20-0 record on the year, the No. 1 ranked UIndy women's tennis team swept the Hillsdale Chargers, 4-0, in the opening round of the NCAA DII Midwest Regional, host by Northwood University. It was another dominating win for the undefeated Greyhounds, as they would see no games go past two sets.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Hounds kicked off action in familiar fashion by commanding doubles play. The No. 3 doubles pair in the country, Alina Kislitskaya and Kristina Lagoda put up a sweep to set the pace for the match, winning 6-0. Maria Solynshkina and Sofia Sharonvoa would be next, winning 6-2, leaving Nikol Alekseeva and Anna Novikova's match unfinished.

The momentum was maintained in singles play, as the Hounds' three win featured just one game lost combined. Sharonova stepped up first, the GLVC Freshman of the Year delivered a 6-0, 6-0 straight set sweep to earn the first singles point. And then a player with about as long of a resume as her winning streak, Alekseeva, followed Sharonova's footsteps and delivered a straight sets 6-0, 6-0 win of her own. It marked the third time this year that Alekseeva has won in the No. 1 singles spot in the minimum 12 games.

To seal the deal for the Hounds and send them to the final, Solnyshkina won 6-0, 6-1. Novikova, Kislitskaya and Lagoda did not finish their matches.

UP NEXT
The Hounds have a familiar opponent on the docket tomorrow in Midwest Regional final as they will face off with GLVC-rival and 12th-ranked Southwest Baptist. UIndy has beaten the Bearcats three times in as many head-to-head matches this season, only giving up one point across the matchups. They will start at 11:30 a.m ET Sunday morning.
