CARMEL, Ind. – The No. 3-ranked UIndy women's team started its fall slate with a 16-stroke win at its annual UIndy Invitational, held Monday and Tuesday at Prairie View Golf Club in Carmel, Ind. Winning for the sixth time in its last seven tournaments at Prairie View, UIndy was led by all-tournament performers
Anna Kramer (76-68-77) and
Elyse Stasil (75-73-73).
Â
The 14-team field featured some of the best competition in the region and beyond. Findlay (6th), Missouri-St. Louis (17th), North Georgia (18th), Grand Valley State (20th) and Lee University (23rd) all came into the week inside the
WGCA's preseason top 25; while Carson-Newman, Central Missouri and Tiffin are each receiving votes.
Â
UIndy built an 18-stroke lead through Monday's 36 holes and did more than enough to hold off the field Tuesday. Stasil carded her second straight 73 in the final round to move into the top five and match Kramer at +5 for the tournament. The pair – UIndy's only holdovers from last year's core lineup – shared third place among 84 student-athletes.
Â
Competing in her very first collegiate tournament, freshman
Anci Dy (74-72-82) finished at +12 as one of five golfers to share ninth place. Also in the top 10 was
Katelyn Skinner (75-80-70), who placed seventh as an individual after a stellar final round.
