INDIANAPOLIS - The UIndy volleyball team (12-12, 5-5 GLVC) suffered a four-set loss to visiting Missouri S&T (15-7, 7-3 GLVC) on Friday night, dropping its second straight match.
Sophia Parlanti totaled a team-high 15 kills, while
Hannah Sabotin finished 10 on .381 hitting and seven block assists.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Miners grabbed the first frame on the heels of a .469 attacking percentage, getting five kills apiece from Jordan Burton and Shelby Ply. The Greyhounds hit .351 themselves in the set, with
Lauren Cullison and
Grace Hegwood joining Parlanti with four finishes.
UIndy stepped up defensively after trailing 2-0 in the third, limiting S&T to a mere .068 attacking. Parlanti paced the offense with five kills, but it was liberoÂ
MaKenna Barnhart who scooped up nine Miner attacks to maintain the Greyhound momentum. A trio of Hounds chipped in a pair of kills in the third, including Hegwood, who also made five digs.
The fourth set was a heartbreaker for the Greyhounds, who led by the score of 22-19, late. However, the Miners six of the final points of the game to avoid a deciding fifth frame and steal the victory. Sabotin recorded half of her 10 kills in the fourth set, attacking at a .500 clip.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Barnhart's 16 scoops ties her with Amy Oldenburg (2009-12) in third place on the all-time program list with 1,729 career digs. The Fort Wayne native has now surpassed 400 digs in three of her four collegiate campaigns.

Gillian Santana matched Barnhart with 16 digs on the evening, inching her way up to 13th all-time in Greyhound history. The senior is now just 22 scoops behind Olivia Martin (2017-18) and 13th place.
- Hegwood finished with double-digit digs (12) for the 12th time this fall, including six of the team's last seven matches.
- Cullison tallied 11 kills for the Hounds, entering double figures for the sixth time this season.
