Hounds Fall to Tritons in GLVC Championship

EDWARDSVILLE, IL - In the first GLVC Championship appearance in program history, the University of Indianapolis men's basketball team fell to Missouri-St. Louis on Sunday afternoon.  The Hounds scored the first 18 points of the game but the Tritons fought back for the 66-55 win.

UIndy finishes the season 19-11 overall and 10-8 in conference play after winning six of their last eight games.

HOW IT HAPPENED
UIndy came out of the gate firing, opening the game with an 18-0 run over the first six minutes of play.  The Tritons first basket of the game came on a free throw at the 13:27 mark.  Cory Miller Jr. opened the game with a three and went on to score 10 points in the run.  The Hounds shot a perfect three-for-three from beyond the arc and six-for-eight from the floor while holding the Tritons to zero-for-ten shooting.

UMSL responded with a run of their own, eventually taking the lead with a three with five minutes remaining in the first half.  Julien Steinfeld slammed down a dunk and Jakobie Robinson knocked back a three to keep the Hounds within eight at halftime.

A quick 6-0 run for the Hounds pulled them within one midway through the second half with Jesse Bingham scoring on back-to-back possessions.  But the Tritons scored on a pair of Greyhound turnovers to put momentum back on their side.

With four minutes remaining Dee Montgomery drained a three to make it 56-54 but UIndy was unable to score on five straight possessions to complete the comeback.
