INDIANAPOLIS—The No. 3-ranked UIndy softball team notched a pair of big wins at Baumgartner Field Sunday, sweeping Drury University – the fourth-ranked team in the
Midwest Regional rankings – by scores of 4-0 and 4-2.

Meanwhile, the Greyhound coaching staff notched a pair of milestones for themselves, with game one netting assistant coach
Ben Ferrell his 100th win with the Greyhounds, followed by the game-two W that marked head coach
Melissa Frost's 700th victory with the Crimson & Grey.

GAME 1 | UIndy 4, Drury 0
Aces starters
Kenzee Smith and Kristina Bettis went head-to-head in one of the marquee pitching of the season. Though Bettis retired the first nine Greyhound batters in order, it was Smith the eventually earned the shutout win.

The hometown product surrendered four walks and a season-high-tying seven hits but got the outs when it counted, earning her 10th shutout of the of the season to move to 22-3 overall. On the flipside, Bettis was tagged with just her third loss in 23 decisions, falling to 20-3 on the year.

The Greyhound offense broke through in the fourth, as
Dominique Proctor,
Megan Nichols and
Lexy Rees led off the frame with consecutive singles. Rees' knock plated Proctor with the game's first run, while later a wild pitch scored Nichols before pinch hitter
Jocelyn Calvin brought home Rees with an RBI groundout.

Nichols capped the scoring with a sac fly in the fifth.
Tara Williams and
Sydnie Foster each added singles.

GAME 2 | UIndy 4, Drury 2
Proctor got the ball rolling in the bottom of the third, sending a two-out missile to deep center to give the Greyhounds a 1-0 advantage. She would score the second run as well, coming around on a Rees single in the fifth.

Meanwhile, game-two starter
Haylie Foster kept the Panther bats quiet until the sixth inning when they tied the game at 2-2. Smith returned to the circle to get the final out of the inning and ultimately the win as sophomore
Tara Williams delivered the game winner with a leadoff homer in the bottom of the sixth.

Nichols finished 3-for-4 at the plate and
Hanna Burris chipped in a walk and a run.

UP NEXT
The final home doubleheader of the season is scheduled for this Tuesday, April 26 when the Hounds venture out-of-conference to host Ohio Dominican. The Panthers are currently ranked No. 6 in the aforementioned Midwest Regional rankings.
