Softball Splits Twin Bill Versus Regional-Ranked Panthers

INDIANAPOLIS—In a battle of two of the top teams in the Midwest, the second-ranked UIndy softball team spilt a midweek doubleheader versus non-conference Ohio Dominican Tuesday evening. Ranked No. 6 in the latest regional poll, ODU recorded its 15 straight win with a 4-0 victory in game one, but the Greyhounds answered with a convincing 10-2 win to snap its streak and salvage the split.

GAME 1 | ODU 4, UIndy 0
The Panthers broke a scoreless tie in fourth with an RBI double from third baseman Braxton Downs. It marked the only earned run allowed by UIndy starter Kenzee Smith (22-4).

Lexy Rees and Gianni Iannantone led the Greyhound offense with two hits apiece, with Iannantone adding a base on balls.

The final score marked the first time this season to Hounds failed to score a run.

The bats came alive in the second game, as UIndy hung 10 tallies on the board and run-ruled the Panthers in five.
