INDIANAPOLIS – The UIndy softball team earned the No. 1 spot in the season's first set of NCAA Division II Midwest Regional rankings, released Wednesday. GLIAC-leader Grand Valley State came in at No. 2, while GLVC-rvial Southern Indiana came in third.
When the full NCAA field is announced May 9, the region's top eight teams will be paired off into two double-elimination tournaments, held on campus sites May 12-14. The winners of two sub-brackets will advance to face off in a best-of-three Super Regional May 19-20 to determine the Midwest's representative at the 2022 NCAA Softball Championships, held in Denver on May 26-30.

Having qualified for each of the last 13 NCAA regionals, the Greyhounds boast the longest postseason streak in the Midwest. They captured two regional crowns in that span, winning the Midwest title in both 2009 and 2015, while adding Super Regional appearances in 2013 and 2019 as well as a regional final appearance in last spring's unique bracket.
