INDIANAPOLIS—The No. 2-ranked UIndy softball team closed the 2022 regular season Sunday, earning a doubleheader sweep at Maryville, 4-1 and 7-0. The results put the Greyhounds' final GLVC record at 24-4 on the year, good for the two-seed in the upcoming GLVC Championship Tournament.

GAME 1 | UIndy 4, Maryville 1
The game was scoreless until the bottom of the fifth when the host Saints pushed across the first run to take a slim lead. UIndy responded with a three-spot in the top of the sixth and eventually shepherded the lead to the end. The two-out rally started with a
Megan Nichols double and a
Gianni Iannantone walk and was punctuated by a three-run bomb from
Lexy Rees.
Â
The Hounds tacked on an insurance run in the seventh as
Maddy Stout led off with a single and came around to score on two wild pitches and an error.
Â
Maryville's single tally in the fifth proved the only blemish for starter
Kenzee Smith. The sophomore sensation struck out eight in the three-hit complete game and will take a 23-5 record into the postseason.

GAME 2 | UIndy 7, Maryville 0
Senior hurlers
Haylie Foster (22-2) and
Audrey Sizemore combined for a shutout in game two, with the former going six strong innings and the latter tossing a scoreless seventh.
Â
Offensively, the Hounds generated four runs in the second and didn't look back.
Sydnee Perry, Stout and Nichols each had RBIs in the early-game surge,
Â
Perry (double in the third) and Stout (single in the sixth) both added to their RBI totals later in the game, while Rees' sac fly in the sixth plated the seventh and final run.
Â
Stout and Perry each finished with a team-high three hits.
Jocelyn Calvin had a pair of singles and two runs, while both
Sydnie Foster and
Tara Williams added a hit and a run scored.
