LIBERTY, Mo. – The No. 7 UIndy men's basketball team (22-2, 14-2 GLVC) completed the regular season sweep of William Jewell (13-12, 10-7 GLVC) on Saturday, finishing strong down the stretch to win, 64-60.
Â
The Greyhounds upped their win streak to an impressive 16 games, while holding their opponent to 60 points in five of their last eight contests.
Â
Jesse Bingham and
Jarvis Walker led UIndy with 13 points apiece, as nine total Hounds finished in the scoring column.
Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Hounds forged another second-half comeback on Saturday, trailing 36-30 with under 15 minutes left before leaving Liberty with the win. Walker sunk the first of his 11 points after the break, drilling a pair of free throws to start a 16-4 run that spanned nearly six minutes of game play.
Â
Joining Walker as key contributors were fellow bench mates
Sean Craig and
Julian Steinfeld, who totaled 14 points and 14 boards in a combined 35 minutes. Craig drilled all three of his 3-pointers in the final 12-and-a-half minutes of action, including a triple with 6:39 left to stretch the UIndy advantage to seven.
Â
Steinfeld secured six of his 11 rebounds in the final 10 minutes.
Â
Bruno Williams was key in the first half, scoring each of his nine points before halftime. The transfer guard out of Milwaukee swished a jumper with four ticks left to knot the game at 25 apiece.
Â
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- A 3-ball from
Josiah Tynes with 2:26 remaining proved instrumental as the junior's lone field goal of the afternoon. The bucket put the Hounds up seven with 62 points, a mark the Cardinals would fail to reach.
- With surrendering just 60 points, UIndy lowered its average opponent total to 62.29 (per game).
- Steinfeld's 11 rebounds is the third time this season the 7-footer has reached double-figures on the glass.
- The Hounds committed seven turnovers in the win, marking the 13th time this winter they have finished in single digits in the category.
- Bingham played a team-high 37 minutes, dishing out a pair of assists to add to his 13 points.

HOUND BYTES
Head coach Paul Corsaro on the team's morale down the stretch...
"Our bench was fantastic. We wouldn't have won that game without those guys. The coolest part to me was we had starters on our bench at the end of the game, guys who play 30 minutes a game, that were the biggest cheerleaders. This is such a selfless group of guys."
Corsaro on the continued defensive success...
"We won the rebounding battle and didn't turn the ball over. I've been preaching to our guys for the last year that we have a good crew and if we don't beat ourselves, we're going to have a chance to win every single game. They're sticking to our identity.

UP NEXT
The Hounds return to Nicoson Hall for the final two home games of the regular season. UIndy tips with Drury on Thursday at 7:30 p.m., looking to defeat the Panthers for the second time this calendar year.
