ROLLA, Mo. – The No. 4 UIndy men's basketball team (25-3, 17-3 GLVC) took down the Missouri S&T Miners on Saturday afternoon on the road by a final of 78-65. With the win, the Hounds complete a regular season sweep of the Miners and have now won 19 of their last 20 games.
A total of 10 players for UIndy scored two or more points in the contest.
Jesse Bingham led the squad with 14 points while
Jarvis Walker (13) and
Kendrick Tchoua (12) were close behind in the scoring column. Tchoua pulled in a team-high nine rebounds while
Jakobie Robinson had eight.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Locked in a 16-16 battle with 10:14 left in the opening half, the Hounds stormed ahead right after this point with a 26-14 scoring run and walked into the intermission up 12. Walker was the lone Hound in double figures with 11 through the first 20 minutes while the team put up a 50 percent shooting effort from the field.
A 3-pointer at the 13:11 mark in the second half by the Miners trimmed the team's deficit down to just four points as play progressed on at Gibson Arena. However, UIndy took the driver's seat shortly after this and rattled off a game-changing 17-4 scoring run that easily put the game out of reach the remainder of the way.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
-The Hounds shot an even 50 percent from the field (31-of-62) while the Miners ended at 41 percent (25-of-61).
-UIndy went 13-of-27 from behind the arc, matching a season high for the team. Walker and
Ben Nicoson each had three triples.
-Each team coughed up 13 turnovers in the game.
-Outside of three ties, the Hounds never trailed in the game.
