Greyhounds End Remarkable Season in Midwest Quarterfinal

INDIANAPOLIS – The No. 9 UIndy men's basketball team (26-5) ended its historic season on Saturday, succumbing to eighth-seeded McKendree (19-12) by a score of 77-63 in the NCAA Midwest Region quarterfinals.

The Greyhounds earned the top seed in this year's regional, hosting postseason basketball in Nicoson Hall for the first time since 1997.

Jesse Bingham led UIndy with a season-high 26 points, while David Ejah and Jarvis Walker combined for 14 points and seven rebounds off the bench.

HOW IT HAPPENED
McKendree led for nearly 34 minutes on Saturday, shooting 55.3 percent from the floor. The Bearcats, who snatched the GLVC's automatic-qualifying bid to the NCAA tournament via winning the league tournament last weekend, upped its win streak to seven.

With the game knotted at 10 apiece, the Bearcats built their unsurmountable lead with a massive 13-0 run in the middle of the first half. A 3-pointer from Bingham put the Greyhounds with seven at the break, and inched the home team within four with a triple out of the break, but McKendree continued to answer. A jumper from Eric Powell II put the Bearcats up by double digits for good for the final 10 minutes.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Bingham shot 12-of-23 from the field, including a pair of 3s.
- The Hounds protected the ball, committing just seven turnovers.
- Ejah and Josiah Tynes chipped in one 3-pointer apiece.
- Tynes led the team with five assists, while Jakobie Robinson dished out four helpers.

MORE NOTES
UIndy now leads the all-time series, 15-4 ... McKendree's Milos Vicentic tallied 26 points on 11-of-16 shooting, while Bryson Bultman recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 assists.

SENIORS
In four seasons on the men's basketball team, senior Ben Nicoson played in 109 contests, tied for ninth all-time in program history. Aaron Etherington and Jakobie Robinson transferred to UIndy after head coach Paul Corsaro was hired in 2020. Together, they helped the Greyhounds to 56 wins in the last three seasons.

HOUND BYTES
Corsaro on the season...
"We accomplished so much this season: tied for most wins in a season and 18-game winning streak, and just the third UIndy team ever to earn a number-one seed in the NCAA tournament. We won the GLVC outright, which is very tough to do in this league. That's nothing to hang our heads about."

Corsaro on the building blocks for next season...
"We return two All-Region players in Jesse and Kendrick Tchoua and that's a pretty great start. We also have a couple really good guards in Josiah and Jarvis and big men David and Julian Steinfeld. I can't wait to see Sean Craig's growth; he was fantastic this season for us. This experience for us is invaluable."
