ORLANDO, Fla. - The UIndy Dance Team recently competed at Dance Team Union's College Classic National Championship, where it earned its second straight national championship. In 2022, the team claimed its first program national title in the category of DII Team Performance. This year, the Greyhounds earned their second national title in DII Pom, while coming in second in the DII Team Performance category by just 0.86 points.Â
The winning routine is incredibly special to the UIndy Dance Team program because it is in honor of a 2020 alumna of the team and university, Hannah Salamie, who recently won her battle with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. This was the first year in program history the UIndy dancers have competed in the pom division. Head coach Carlee Bachek assistant coach and Jada Watson chose to dedicate their routine to Hannah in honor of her strength throughout her battle with cancer. The dancers used
neon green poms in honor of lymphoma awareness and danced to some of Hannah's favorite musical artists.Â
