#5 Greyhounds Sweep McKendree in First Round of NCAA Tournament

GREENWOOD, Ind., - In the first round of the 2023 NCAA DII Men's Tennis Championship, the No. 5-ranked Greyhounds cruised to a 4-0 sweep over the McKendree Bearcats. Playing at Center Grove High School, the Hounds will now await to see who they will face tomorrow in the second round, facing the winner of Tiffin and Ferris State.

INS AND OUTS
Doubles was clean for the Hounds with Louis Picaud and Nikolaj Talimaa working quick. The recently formed duo were able to get the Hounds on the board early with a 6-2 victory. That led to a ranked battle at the No. 1 slot. Edgar Destouet and Tom Zeuch, the No. 1 pair in the nation, triumphed over McKendree's No. 20-ranked top pair 6-2.

The Hounds, with the momentum squarely at their back, didn't let off the gas. Thomas Mathis, the six-hole for the Hounds, was efficient as could be asking, going 6-1, 6-1. Zeuch did much of the same out of the No. 2 spot. The No. 10-ranked senior out of Reiser, Germany was electric in set two, making it 6-2, 6-3 victory.

Ending the match was Talimaa, who after dropping a tight first game, went on to win 12-straight games to secure the victory and to move the Hounds into the second round of the NCAAs.
