INDIANAPOLIS – A day removed from one of the greatest individual performances in baseball
history, the University of Indianapolis Greyhounds Baseball team looked to close out the series with the Drury Panthers. The visitors, however, uprooting the Hounds and won the final game of the four-game set, 6-3. Â
Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
The nine-inning contest only featured three innings with scoring, with the Panthers taking the first lead off a first inning home run to left field, scoring two.
Â
Will Spear did his job in the next frame, laying down a sacrifice bunt to score
Nick Lukac and make it a one run ballgame. Both offenses were quiet from there, with both squads combining for only five more hits. The seventh is where the game was blown open, with two singles and an error left the bases loaded for Drury's pinch hitter. He saw a pitch he liked and smoked it for a grand slam over the left field wall, marking the second panther bomb of the game.
Â
Easton Good and Lukac chopped the lead in the bottom of the seventh. Good used his legs on the basepath, drawing a poor throw from the pitcher which resulted in another throwing error from the first baseman, scoring from first on the play. Lukac, with bases loaded, was patient, drawing a walk, making it 6-3. Despite a leadoff
Drew Donaldson double in the ninth, the Hounds couldn't mount a comeback, falling in the series finale.
