ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Led by a 5-1 performance in singles, the University of Indianapolis women's tennis team took yet another GLVC tennis victory, this one coming against the Lewis Flyers.
INS AND OUTS
Playing to clinch, the doubles action saw two quick victories for the Hounds with
Margarita Andreiuk and
Maria Fiacan winning 6-2 in the second slot. No. 3 doubles, featuring the French connection of
Lea Cakarevic and
Diane Flament was equally dominant, winning 6-3.
Singles saw four of the six matches end in straight sets with Cakarevic and
Sofia Sharonova being exceptionally efficient. Cakarevic strode to a 6-0 first set before fighting off a comeback to win set two 6-4. Sharonova sets were more consistent, winning 6-1, 6-2.
Fiacan was the only matching set victory for the Hounds, winning in two 6-3 sets.
Anna Novikova out of the top slot was forced to fight hard, dropping the first set but finding a way with two dominant sets to close out the match.
