HICKORY, N.C. – The No. 9 UIndy men's lacrosse team dropped its first game of the season on Sunday with a 14-7 loss at top-ranked Lenoir-Rhyne.

Nathan Lam recorded a hat trick, the first of his career, while also recording two ground balls.

The Greyhounds snagged an early 2-0 advantage out of the gate with a pair of goals from
Owain Braddock in the opening minutes. The defending national champions formulated quite the response, however, scoring each of the next 10 goals to pull away.

UIndy netted three straight scores in the third quarter, as
Dylan Braddock and
Justin Williams sandwiching Lam's first goal of the afternoon to cut the deficit to five.

Lam was the only Greyhound to score the rest of the contest, capping the hat trick with a goal at the 1:03 mark of the fourth frame.
