BOCA RATON, Fla.— The UIndy women's golf team opened its spring schedule in Florida this week, competing at the loaded Lynn Invite Monday and Tuesday. In a field at featured five of the top-10 ranked Division II teams and seven in the top 15, the Greyhounds (298-302-298) finished in eighth place, highlighted by a top-10 finish from junior
Anci Dy (+3).
The 11-team, 54-hole event was held at Boca Woods Country Club in Boca Raton, Fla.
INS & OUTS
Dy made a furious charge in Tuesday's third and final round. The Traverse City, Mich., native carded a two-under 70—the second-lowest score of the day—to leap 14 spots on the leaderboard to settle at T-10. Already a two-time All-American, Dy has placed in the top 10 in five of six tournaments this season.
Senior
Matilda Cederholm joined Dy in the top 20. She highlighted her week with an even-par 72 in the first round before settling at +5 to share 18th.
Freshman
Jess Haines (+13) and sophomore
Alice Webb (+14) finished at T-34 and T-38, respective, while sophomore
Ava Ray rounded out the lineup players with a three-round score of +25. Freshman
Caroline Whallon competed as an individual, placing 42nd at +16.
Led by medalist Ella Cheek (-2), second-ranked Dallas Baptist ran away with the team title, clearing the field by 18 stokes. Meanwhile, UIndy finished just one stroke back of 13th-ranked Saint Leo and only two back of No. 1 Nova Southeastern.
