INDIANAPOLIS – A day removed from dominating at the Greyhound Duals, the UIndy wrestling team had a platoon of Greyhounds take on the yearly Greyhound Open tournament. Teams from all over the Midwest at Division I and II came to the tournament, with the Hounds ending up with seven placers, those including
Phoenix Rodgers' third place at 197,
Owen Butler fifth place at 184 and
Nathan Conley's sixth place at 157.

INS & OUTS
For Rodgers at 197, he started his day with a late fall against Wabash's Hadyn Ball. That momentum carried him all the way to the semis, where he dropped a match to DI Illinois' Joseph Braunagel by major. He bounced back with a 8-5 match to secure his third place spot.
Â
Butler had a long day on his route to the podium, falling in his first match in extra time. That must have angered Butler, as he rattled off back-to-back-to-back tech falls all 15-0 to get into the fourth round of the consolation bracket. A medical forfeit and a major of KWC's Drayden McKerrow launched Butler in the fifth-place match where he shut out Keenan Wyatt of formerly-DII Bellarmine, 6-0.
Â
Conley kept his weekend busy at 157 after wrestling in the duals the day before. He rolled through the first two rounds before a quarterfinals loss sent him to the lower bracket. Back-to-back wins there, the second coming over Jake Reicin of Illinois earned him a chance at fifth, where an early fall ended Conley's day in sixth.
Â
Other finishes of note include
Brayden Lowery seventh place at 141. Lowery snagged two falls on the day, with his only losses coming to SIUE's Danny Martinez and Indiana's Henry Porter.
Luke Robards at 157 snagged eighth after wrestling six matches on the day. Also in eighth was
Shane Bates and
Logan Farnell at 174, with the pair fighting to the seventh-place match and deferring to share the eighth-place title.
