Tennis Sweeps McKendree on Senior Day

GREENWOOD, Ind. – The University of Indianapolis women's and men's tennis teams sent off a special group of six seniors on Friday morning, capping it off with a pair of dominating efforts by both squads.

The Hounds sent off Diane Flament and Maissane Ais on the women's side while for the men it included David Julia Melero, Erwan Momo Andre, Pedro Franca and Tom Zeuch. These seniors helped lead the Hounds to multiple GLVC Championships and NCAA tournament births.

After yet another tough battle in doubles, the Hounds came out on top with the point. Maria Fiacan and Bendetta Sensi grabbed a 7-5 win at the top of the card. The youth movement of Ana Hollweg and Tyffaine Pais did much of the same, winning via tiebreak 7-6.

From there it was a Hound show, taking the top three singles matches all in straight-sets. The No. 44-ranked Pais made a return to the top of the lineup and dominated with a 6-2, 6-2 win.

Jimena De Pablos Hernando and Valentin Colin both picked up key wins in the later half of the match.

With their second-straight ranked foe, the Hounds had to be on their A-game, and they were. After a sweep of doubles, with the No. 1 ranked pair of Tom Zeuch and Matthieu Derache dominating in a 6-1 rout, the Hounds were in quality position for singles.

Erwan Momo Andre, Louis Picaud and Derache all got the work done quick, securing straight-set wins and the match. Zeuch, however, suffered his first loss in conference play this season, dropping a nailbiter to No. 24 Leonardo Frederico.
