Greyhounds, One Love Shine in Friday Meeting with Bearcats

INDIANAPOLIS – The No. 14 UIndy women's lacrosse team earned a blowout victory on Friday afternoon from Key Stadium, defeating McKendree by a score of 21-5.

Friday marked the annual One Love Game, with the Greyhounds sporting the organization's t-shirts during warmups. One Love was founded in honor of Yeardley Love, a 22-year-old college student killed by her ex-boyfriend. After her death, the family started the One Love Foundation to help educate young people about the differences between healthy and unhealthy relationships. If you or someone you know is in an abusive relationship, please call the National Domestic Violence hotline at 1(800)799-7233.

Megan Dunn scored a career-high six goals in the win, while Mackenzie Winn shared the team lead with her teammate with eight points apiece. Olivia Bladon remained herself on Friday, finishing with 14 draw controls, four goals, and two caused turnovers.

INS & OUTS
When it rained it poured for the McKendree defense on Friday, as nearly 11 minutes of scoreless action was swiftly wiped away with four Greyhounds goals during a stretch that lasted just over three minutes in the opening quarter. Joey Fowler started the run, while Dunn netted a pair.

It was all but over from there, with back-to-back goals from Sage Da Silva and Dunn upped the UIndy advantage to eight early in the second.

The third quarter proved to be the most competitive on the afternoon, as the trio of Fowler-Caroline Krauch-Bladon scored three straight goals in the final four minutes of the frame to give UIndy a running-clock advantage for the rest of the day.

The Greyhound defense blanked the Bearcats in the final 15 minutes, forcing two turnovers on the ride and going a perfect 6-0 on the draw control to build the 16-goal victory.

ON ANOTHER NOTE
UIndy now leads the all-time series, 12-5, and has won each of the past 12 meetings.
