Greyhounds Wrap Regular Season at #16 Maryville

ST. LOUIS – The No. 10 UIndy men's lacrosse team dropped the regular-season finale on Saturday to 16th-ranked Maryville and will enter next weekend's GLVC Championship Tournament as either the third or fourth seed, depending on the result between Rockhurst and Lewis later this afternoon.

The Saints outscored the Hounds, 5-1, in the second half and recorded eight of the final 10 goals for the victory. Saturday's result also marks Maryville's first-ever win in the series, dating back to the opener in 2017.

Three Greyhounds finished with three points, as Nick Randgaard tallied his second hat trick of the spring.

INS & OUTS
Randgaard scored all three of his goals in the second quarter, capping a four-score run with back-to-back netters midway through the frame. The senior gave the Hounds leads of 6-3 and 7-5 prior to halftime.

It was a battle of goalkeepers all afternoon, especially in the second half. Maryville netminder Dylan Radke made 12 saves in the final 30 minutes, limiting the UIndy offense to just one goal. The Saints rattled off four unanswered goals right after the break, despite KC Carlson making just as many saves between the pipes.

UIndy looked to gain momentum in the final frame, as Tyler Bernarduci scored off an assist from Easton Ong at the 13:43 mark. Unfortunately, that would be the last goal of the contest for the Greyhounds, with Radke making eight saves in the last 14 minutes.

It was Bernarduci's first career goal, who earned his first game action in the month of April as a freshman.

INSIDE THE BOX
- The UIndy ride caused four turnovers on Maryville clear attempts, while going a perfect 23-for-23 itself.
- Jack Sullivan and Trevor Lockwood each recorded two caused turnovers and one ground ball.
- The duo of Triston Schaffer and Justin Williams combined to score the first four goals of the afternoon, all in the opening quarter.
- Carlson finished with 12 saves, the seventh time the senior has made double-digit stops.

ON ANOTHER NOTE
UIndy awaits its GLVC semifinal opponent. The league office will announce the bracket later this evening following the conclusion of all games.
