Winters' Hat Trick Leads Hounds in 6-0 Win Over William Jewell

INDIANAPOLIS - A plethora of goals and a dominant defensive showcase pushed the University of Indianapolis women's soccer team to a 6-0 victory over William Jewell College on Sunday, Sep 29. The shutout and hat-trick from Mia Winters helped move the Greyhounds to 4-3-1 on the year, and 3-1-1 in GLVC play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
In the first five minutes of the match, the Hounds' landed their first goal from Mia Winters from a nice give-and-go action between Winters and Antiya Sidibe. Sidibe drove in a cross towards the net, and Winters put herself in great position to finish the first goal.

The second goal came just two minutes after the first in similar fashion. Winters crossed a pass from the right on a dime to Sarah Wegener, who put one past Emily Glassman for the Cardinals after initially being denied.

Goal number three was helped on by a set piece from the Hounds. A UIndy free kick led to a deep shot from Antiya Sidibe. Glassman saved the rip from Sidibe, but Clare Simmonds was right on the doorstep to put away the rebound for the third goal of the first half.

Going into the second half, the Hounds' kept their foot on the gas pedal, and in the 60th minute, Stephanie Brady caused a turnover and connected with Winters, who beat Jenna Skeeters in a one-on-one for her second goal of the match.

At the 64:43 mark, Sidibe intercepted a Cardinal pass in the midfield and found Winters racing down the middle of the pitch, who blasted a shot in the top-right corner past Skeeters to complete the hat-trick.

The bombardment of goals continued with Ella DeSmet in the 74th minute. Off a corner kick, the ball pinged around the scramble of players before the hounds solidified possession. The Hounds' placed another ball in on the net, where DeSmet knocked it in the back of the net for the sixth goal of the match.
