UIndy Fends Off Lincoln Thursday Evening

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – The UIndy men's basketball prevailed yet again on Thursday evening, defeating GLVC-newcomer Lincoln by a score of 84-80 in the programs' first-ever meeting.

Thursday marked the 15th time this season the Greyhounds have played a game decided by single digits. UIndy sports an 10-5 record in such contests.

Brody Whitaker led the Hounds with 22 points, adding five rebounds and two assists in the win.

INS & OUTS
The Greyhounds led for the final 35+ minutes on Thursday, albeit by single digits much of that time. Kelvin Amoako hit a free throw with 13:20 left in the second half to stretch the Greyhounds' lead to 13, their largest of the evening.

UIndy kept Lincoln at bay for the next 11 minutes, gathering buckets from Grant Disken and Zac Szul down the stretch. Whitaker drilled a pair of 3-pointers in the second half, just minutes before Disken's lone triple of the evening.

It was too little too late for the Blue Tigers; despite Lincoln pulling within four with 82 seconds left, UIndy clinched the road win at the line with a 10-for-10 effort from the charity stripe in the final 1:16.

Dashawn Jackson was responsible for the first-half Greyhound charge, scoring 11 of his 15 points before halftime.

INSIDE THE BOX
- Disken scored all nine of his points in the second half.
- Five Greyhounds made at least one 3-pointer against Lincoln, including Tucker Tornatta. The freshman stretch-5 also recorded five rebounds and three assists.
- Amoako finished with seven points and six boards in 17 minutes off the bench.
- UIndy lost the turnover battle, 12-10, against Lincoln, but are now 4-3 in games when it does so.

MORE NOTES
Lincoln's Tyler Chapman and Mikey West combined for 44 points, each scoring at least 21 … Lavonte Harris drew his first start of the season, securing three rebounds in the win.

UP NEXT
UIndy faces arguably its toughest test of the season on Saturday, visiting fifth-ranked Missouri S&T in Rolla, Mo., for a 4:30 p.m. ET tip. The Greyhounds have historically dominated the all-time series with the Miners with an impressive 19-2 record.

The last time the Hounds faced a top-five opponent was March 2021 at No. 2 Truman in the GLVC quarterfinals. The result? A 75-73 UIndy win.
