ROLLA, Mo. – In another lopsided final score, the No. 18 UIndy football team continued to roll through GLVC competition, earning a 56-13 road win versus Missouri S&T. The Greyhounds put up 50-plus points for the second straight week and are now 4-0 in conference play.
Â
INS & OUTS
UIndy orchestrated one of the most efficient first halves a football team can hope for. Interceptions by defensive backs
TJ Easley-Jones and
Mario Williams bookended the half, while in between, the UIndy offense capped each of its five possessions with a touchdown. Redshirt-freshman
Juseters Fataki ran for two first-half scores, while
Garrett Sherrell,
Alonzo Derrick and
Kaleb Carver also found the zone.
Â
The host Miners found a
little life in the third quarter, forcing UIndy's first (and only) two punts of the night while connecting on a pair of field goals. They failed to make a significant dent in the margin, however, as the Hounds went on to compile nearly 500 total yards, including more than 300 through the air.
Â
Speaking of which, quarterback
Gavin Sukup remained red hot. After a
historic performance last week, the senior and team captain finished a surgical 21 for 25 passing for 271 yards, four touchdowns and zero interceptions.
Â
Defensively,
Jerrell Franklin Jr. and
Nick Johnson shared the team lead with six tackles apiece.
TJ Easley-Jones,
Mario Williams and
TJ Cothron each had an interception, the latter two being career firsts.
Â
INSIDE THE BOX
- Fataki finished with a game-high 88 rushing yards and three TDs, while Sherrell added 51 more on the ground.
- Derrick amassed six catches for 81 yards to lead the Greyhound receiving corps.
- The UIndy defense combined for 10 tackles for a loss, including
Adam Blakey's 1.5 sacks.
- Williams added a forced fumble while Easley-Jones was credited with three pass break-ups.
