Hounds Finish Third at William Beall Fall Classic, Ray Claims All-Tournament Honors

FINDLAY, Ohio — The UIndy women's golf team faced off at the annual William Beall Fall Classic that featured a loaded field of teams, and came away with a third place team finish. This week's tournament was hosted at Findlay Country Club.

Of the 16 teams competing, 12 of those teams made an appearance in last season's NCAA Regionals. Along with UIndy the rest of the top five teams from the 2024 NCAA DII East Regional competed this week as well; Findlay, Ferris State, Grand Valley State and UMSL.

The Greyhounds were led by an All-Tournament finish from Ava Ray, which marked the seventh of her UIndy career, and her second of the 2025-26 season. Along with Ray, the Hounds also had another top-10 finish from Macey Brown who used back-to-back 74s to vault her way into an eighth-place finish.

"Overall, we had a solid week at Findlay," head coach Andy Serketich said. "It was a Regional Preview so it was a great field and we talked about how it was a great opportunity to see where we stack up at this point during the year."

"Team wise, we were a little bit feast or famine. We led the field in birdies which is great but we made too many bogeys and others that negated some our otherwise great play," Serketich said.

Ray finished the two-day tournament in fourth place at +4, carding scores of 73-76-72. Her final round 72 was one of only six rounds shot by the entire field to be even par or better. Meanwhile, Brown used a birdie at the 54th hole to move out of a share for ninth, and into a solo eighth-place finish.

"Ava was super solid again this week," Serketich said. "Didn't always have her best game off the tee but she battled great and got another top 5 finish.  You can just see how comfortable she is competing…I'm excited for her and our team to be back in action in less than 2 weeks."

"Macey had a solid top 10 finish as well. She was so solid this week. Led the field in pars and rarely got into much trouble. It was great to see her bounce back from the last event," Serketich said.

Junior Caroline Whallon (+17) notched her second top-25 finish of the season with a tied for 23rd place finish, and freshman Valentina Cortez claimed her third straight top 30 finish to begin her Greyhound career after a final round 75 that included six birdies ended her week with a T-25 finish.

Paige Giovenco was the other Greyhound in the squad for this weekend, posting a tie for 37th place finish. Freshman Lucile Ceolin competed as an individual this week, and finished at +21 to share for 33rd.

"Next up, a trip to Nemacolin Resort. It's an amazing place and great golf course," said Serketich. "We are grateful to be going back and are going to prepare well the next 10 days before we head over there."
