Greyhounds Place Eighth in First Tournament of 2025

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. - The UIndy women's golf team started the spring season at the Battle of Hilton Head hosted by Lincoln Memorial. The 36-hole tournament took place at Palmetto Dunes Golf Club on the Robert Trent Jones Course.

The Greyhounds placed eighth out of 14 teams after finishing +91 (328-307-320). Their best performance came in the second round, finishing +19 with seven birdies and one eagle. No. 2 Wingate won the tournament at +42.
 
Sophomore Caroline Whallon had the highest finish for UIndy, placing t-21st out of 77 competitors. Whallon was +19 (78-79-78), totaling four birdies and 30 pars.
 
Junior Ava Ray was next up for the Hounds, grabbing a share of 30th place. Ray, who finished +21 (83-74-80), shot a team-best 74 during the second round.
 
Junior Macey Brown was the sole Greyhound to have an eagle during the tournament. It came in the second round on the 15th hole after completing the par five in three strokes. Brown finished t-34th after shooting +24 (83-77-80).
 
Rounding out the UIndy lineup were freshman Abby Stone and senior Ellen Caton. Stone placed t-41 after finishing +27 (84-77-82). Caton was tied for 73rd with +64 (95, 87, 98).
 
UP NEXT
The Greyhounds will return to South Carolina with the men's team to compete in the Pawley's Island Beach Bash for Spring Break on Mar. 12 and 13. Hosted by Gannon, the tournament will take place at the Founders Club at Pawley's Island.
