INDIANAPOLIS – The No. 12 UIndy women's lacrosse team made a statement in Friday's season opener, defeating sixth-ranked Regis thanks to freshman
Kendall Conrad's first-career goal with just 14 seconds left to win, 9-8, at Key Stadium.
Conrad took the feed from senior
Caroline Krauch, slipping it past the Regis goalkeeper's feet for the celebration.
It is the first UIndy win against Regis since 2018, also a one-goal victory at Key Stadium.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Greyhound offense came alive in the fourth quarter, scoring five times to pull off the comeback. Staring down defeat with less than three minutes remaining,
Ella Fornek capped off her hat trick to knot the game at eight apiece.
Malaena Michielin was carded at the 1:06 mark, giving the Rangers a chance in the final moments to earn a dramatic win themselves.
Hollis Rang had other ideas, however, causing Regis' 17th turnover of the afternoon and leading UIndy back into its own attacking zone.
Krauch found Conrad coming up from behind the cage, in a senior-to-freshman connection to remember.
The Hounds scored four times in the first 46 minutes before
Alexa Versaci opened the fourth-quarter barrage early in the period.
Sage Da Silva also netted her first goal of the season, giving Krauch her first helper in the dramatic final frame.
