HOW IT HAPPENED
UIndy edged-out Catawba in the doubles point, picking up wins in #1 and #3 doubles. Matthieu Derache and Tadeo Gaggiofatto blanked Matteo Berne and Marcos Casteras in #1 doubles, while Lorenzo Di Cursi and Manu Lantari topped Augustin Mastri and Luca Bergonzi 6-4 in #3 doubles.
Both teams traded blows in the first two singles matches, with Simeonov taking a 6-4 6-3 win over Mastri in #1 singles for UIndy, and Berne topping Lantari 6-2 6-3 in #2 singles.
Catawba tied the match at two a piece when Kostka outlasted Derache in a third-set tiebreaker, but the Hounds regained a 3-2 lead with Asier Ayllon Prado's third-set tiebreak win over Casteras.
Ryosake Inagawa leveled the score at three in #6 singles, narrowly coming on top against Di Cursi in a third set tiebreak, with a 6-4 1-6 8-6 win.
The fate of the match would be decided in the #5 singles match. Gaggiofatto took the first set 6-2, and Alessandro took the second 6-2, send the match to another breaker to determine the winning team. It went down to the wire from both sides, but Gaggiofatto finally found a service break to collect an 8-6 win.
