Fifth-Ranked Saints Outlast Greyhounds in High-Scoring Affair

ST. LOUIS – The eighth-ranked UIndy women's lacrosse team dropped an 18-16 decision to No. 5 Maryville on Sunday in a battle of top-10 teams. The Greyhounds scored seven fourth-quarter goals to inch back within two before the final horn.

Olivia Bladon scored five goals for the fifth time this season, while Caroline Krauch netted two herself and scooped up a game-high three ground balls.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Saints forged an 8-0 run during the middle frames, grabbing a 12-8 lead late in the third quarter after trailing by four just 20 game minutes prior. Malaena Michielin stopped the bleeding at the 3:42 mark of the third, netting her second goal of the day after a draw control win by Ella Fornek.

UIndy then attempted its own impressive comeback, scoring seven times in the final 12-and-a-half minutes to get back within striking distance. Ally Savino took advantage of a free position attempt with less than five minutes left, scoring for the second time as the Saints led, 16-14.

Maryville sealed the game after Savino's netter, winning back-to-back draw controls and scoring twice to put the game out of reach. Sage Da Silva followed Bladon's fifth goal of the afternoon with her second as 94 seconds remained, but the Saints defense forced the Hounds' final turnover to clinch the top-10 win.

- UIndy turned the ball over just 12 times, going 14 for 15 on clear attempts.
