INDIANAPOLIS – In the regular season home finale, the UIndy softball team split a doubleheader versus the Truman State Bulldogs Friday afternoon at Baumgartner Field. Greyhounds run-ruled their guests in game one, 10-2, before falling in game two, 8-6.
Â
Prior to first pitch, seniors
Tori Angles,
Jocelyn Calvin and
Jayden Casebolt were recognized for their hard work and dedication to the program. To date, the group has helped the Hounds to a 194-46 (.808) combined record since 2022, including three NCAA Tournament appearances, two GLVC regular season crowns and the 2024 Midwest Region championship.
GAME 1 | UIndy 10, TSU 2 (5 inn.)
UIndy set the tone early with a four-run flex in the bottom of the second. After doubles from
Josie Jager and
Sydney Oliver,
Brooklyn Willis launched a 1-0 pitch to deep center field, good for a three-run blast and a 4-0 UIndy lead. It marked the sixth homer for the freshman this year—tops on the team.
Â
Â
Later, UIndy's five-run fourth all but doomed the 'Dogs. Unlike the second inning, the Hounds did their damage without an extra-base hit, as four singles, three walks and a hit by pitch all fueled the fire.
Â
Freshman
Cheyenne Eads (18-9) was once again stellar in the circle. She racked up seven strikeouts against zero walks in the complete-game outing, while only one of her runs were earned.
Â
Both Willis and Oliver finished with two hits and three RBIs, while nine different Greyhounds scored a run.
Â
GAME 2 | TSU 8, UIndy 6
UIndy built a 5-0 lead after four innings and took a 6-2 advantage into the seventh, but the Bulldogs found a way. A pair of fielding errors worked against the Hounds, as did a three-run home run from Truman centerfielder Emily Wood.
Â
Sophomore
Cara Cooper went 3-for-4 in the game, Oliver added two more base hits, and
Shelby Cook hit a solo homer
Â
Casebolt got the start in the circle for UIndy, allowing two runs in four-plus innings. Three Greyhound relievers followed, with Eads (18-10) ultimately taking the loss.
Â
The result snapped the Greyhounds' 24-game win streak in the series.

UP NEXT
The Greyhounds have just one date left on the schedule. The Hounds will travel to Lewis University on Saturday, April 26 for its final regular schedule doubleheader.
