Greyhounds Defend Home Turf, Advance to Midwest Region Championship

INDIANAPOLIS – A patient offense and rock-steady defense led the second-seeded and eighth-ranked UIndy women's lacrosse team to a 15-10 victory over Regis in the DII Midwest Region semifinal contest on Saturday from Key Stadium.

Olivia Bladon led all players with six points, including four goals and two assists, to inch toward the century mark for the 2025 campaign. On the defensive end, junior netminder Lylian Iman made eight saves between the pipes, while Amanda Hurry recorded three caused turnovers and one ground ball.

INS & OUTS
The Hounds controlled possession and tempo much of the game, grinding out 20 wins in the draw circle compared to Regis' eight. Malaena Michielin was a force to be reckoned with in the midfield, securing a season-high 12 draw controls and scoring two goals in the process. The junior put the game on ice with less than seven minutes left, netting a goal off a pretty feed from Bladon.

The teams traded multi-goal runs throughout 22 minutes of action, with the game in a dead heat at a 4-4 score. Kendall Conrad started a flurry of Greyhound goals to end the opening half, with Bladon and Sage Da Silva adding scores of their own in the final minute to put UIndy ahead by three at the break.

Caroline Krauch joined Emily Ghazal in the scoring column early in the third quarter, as the Hounds appeared to be in complete control. Conrad stretched the UIndy advantage to a game-high six with back-to-back goals before Ella Fornek tallied her first since the regular-season finale.

Each team turned the ball over 12 times, with nine of the Hounds' miscues unforced. Hadlee DeCampos caused a pair of turnovers, as her defensive linemate Hollis Rang chipped in one.

INSIDE THE BOX
- Uncharacteristically, the Greyhounds went 13 for 16 in their clearing attempts, good for an 81.3 percent clip. UIndy entered Saturday ranked third in the country in clear percentage.
- Iman's eight saves is a new career-high mark for the junior, who improved her record in goal to 3-0 this spring.
- Ghazal finished with five points, dishing out three helpers in the process.
- Mariah Whitfield joined DeCampos and Rang with two ground balls.
- Each team was carded four times, three yellows and one green.

HOUND BYTES
Head coach Peyton Romig on the win…
"I am so proud of the girls today for a total team effort. They did everything we asked them to and everything they needed to come out with the win today."

Iman on the team's defensive effort…
"Shoutout to the defense. I knew as long as they were there and we were communicating, everything would be all right."

MORE NOTES
Regis now leads the all-time series, 4-3, with all three of UIndy's wins coming at Key Stadium … Conrad, who recorded a hat trick on Saturday, netted the game-winner back in February against the Rangers.
