INDIANAPOLIS - UIndy women's golf head coach
Andy Serketich was named the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Coach of the Year on Friday.
Macey Brown,
Ava Ray, and
Caroline Whallon also earned All-GLVC honors.
In his inaugural season with the Greyhounds, Serektich led his team to a conference title and an NCAA Championship appearance. Whallon earned medalist honors at the GLVC Championships and finished first during the conference stroke play. Ray also finished inside the top five to be named All-GLVC. Brown was voted to the All-GLVC team by the coaches.
The league also recognized one student-athlete from each team as honorees for the James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Award, with senior
Ellen Caton earning the nod for the Hounds. The student-athletes chosen are individuals who have distinguished themselves through sportsmanship and ethical behavior. These individuals must also be in good academic standing and have demonstrated good citizenship outside of the sports-competition setting. The honorees are now eligible to become one of their school's two Spalding Sportsmanship Award winners. The Hounds also won the team award for this distinction.
Coach of the Year: Andy Serketich, Indianapolis
- Wins first Coach of the Year award and 16th overall for UIndy.
- Led Greyhounds to the No.2 seed in GLVC Championship medal/match play and league-best 17th Conference title with a 4-1 semifinal win over third-seeded Drury and 3-2 finals win over top-seeded Missouri-St. Louis.
- Mentored UIndy to three tournament wins, including GLVC Championship title, to go along with one runner-up finish and four other top-five results.
- Guided Caroline Whallon (71-76-73–220) to GLVC Individual Medalist honors at the GLVC Championship, Ava Ray to a top-five finish at the GLVC Championship and Macey Brown to All-GLVC recognition. Dy and Haines to major awards, and five players to All-GLVC recognition.
