HILTON HEAD, S.C. — The UIndy women's team traveled down to Hilton Head Island in South Carolina for the Battle at Hilton Head, in what was a loaded field that included four teams in the top-20 of the latest Scoreboard rankings.
The Greyhounds came away with a seventh place finish, only one stroke behind Carson-Newman for sixth place. Along with a seventh place finish, the freshman Paige Giovenco captured her third top-10 finish of her young Greyhound career with a T8 finish against a stacked individual field.
The 19-team field battled it out at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Course at Palmetto Dunes.
INS & OUTS
Giovenco continued to showcase why she was so highly touted coming out of the high school ranks, collecting her third top-10 of the 2025-26 season in just her fifth event played. She vaulted herself up the leaderboard in the final round, shooting a 70 (-2), to finish T8 in the team's first spring event. Her two under round was one of only nine under par rounds this week.Â
The senior duo of Caroline Whallon and Macey Brown were second and third in individual scoring for the Hounds, with Whallon finishing T27 after rounds of 78-76-78, while Brown finished 37th and bested her score in each round played, finishing the three-round event at +18.
Ava Ray and Valentina Cortez rounded out the five person lineup for the Hounds, each shot a +24 three round score, which was good enough for a T50 finish. Cortez highlighted the two's week with a final round 75 (+3) that consisted of two birdies to open the front and back nine set of holes.
Brown, Giovenco, Ray and Whallon combined to score one under par on the par-3 holes, which was the best combined four player team score on the par-3s this week.
Both Abby Stone and Lucile Ceolin competed as individuals for UIndy. Ceolin settled at T41 with a +22 score, and Stone finished one shot behind Ceolin at +23 which was good enough for T46.
This is Stone's first appearance on the links this season, and shot two under on the par-4 13th hole this week which averaged just a half stroke over par (4.47) for the field.
