Greyhounds Storm Past Walsh in Friday Night Clash

CANTON, Ohio. – The No. 2 UIndy women's lacrosse team got its weekend in Ohio started with a 22-2 win over Walsh on Friday night. The Greyhounds earned its first running-clock win of the spring after scoring 11 first half goals.

Four Hounds recorded a hat trick, led by Malaena Michielin's seven goal outburst, while Megan Gehrt, Olivia Bladon and Sage Da Silva all bagged three goals of their own. Michielin etched her name into the record book with her seven goal performance, which is tied for the sixth best single game goals performance in Greyhound program history.

The Greyhounds remain unbeaten in the all-time series against the Cavaliers, 8-0, and have won those games by an average of 11 goals.

INS & OUTS
Dating back to last season, UIndy has scored 20 plus goals for the seventh time, and were helped with six first quarter goals including two of Michielin's seven. Bladon, Emily Ghazal, Gehrt and Reese Fahlke all grabbed one of their own in the first 15 minutes. The freshman, Fahlke, has now extended her goal streak to three in as many games at UIndy.

The Greyhounds added five more in the second quarter to take an 11-0 lead, and Bladon and Michielin combined for five draw controls, but it wasn't just the attack making all the plays, as the defensive effort from the likes of Amanda Hurry and Mariah Whitfield kept the Cavaliers without a shot until 21 seconds left in the second quarter. Hurry and Whitfield combined for three caused turnovers and three ground balls in the first half.

Only three of the six shots from the Cavaliers made their way to the goalie, with Ava Graham grabbing the lone first half save, while the freshman Sam Martin made her first appearance in goal and stopped two shots.

Coming out of the locker room the Greyhounds continued its goal barrage, adding another 11 goals to their name in the second half. Da Silva got in on the action in the second half, scoring all three of her goals in the second half, while Bladon found her hat trick late in the third quarter.

Along with the familiar faces, a few new faces found their way on to the stat sheet for the first time this season including; Maggie Durkin, Sadie Nugent, and Sophia Griswold-Beltz. All three scored their first goals of the 2026 season, bringing the total to 11 unique goal scorers for UIndy this spring.
